Job Opening: Part-Time Accounting/Bookkeeping Specialist

Location: Hybrid – Work from Home & In-Office (Austin, TX)
Hours: 15–20 hours per month
Compensation: Commensurate with experience

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Part-Time Accounting/Bookkeeping Specialist to support our financial operations. This role offers flexibility with a combination of remote work and in-office presence. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience in QuickBooks and a strong understanding of bookkeeping practices tailored for small businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expense Tracking: 
    • Accurately record and categorize all business expenses, including those billable to clients.
    • Maintain comprehensive records for all company credit cards and other expenditures. 
  • Invoicing & Accounts Receivable: 
    • Prepare and send invoices to clients in a timely manner.
    • Manage follow-ups to ensure prompt payment from clients. 
  • Tax Preparation Support: 
    • Maintain financial records in a format that can be easily transferred to our CPA (Sweeten CPA) for federal tax filings.
    • Optional but highly preferred: Handle payments for property taxes and state franchise taxes directly. 
  • Reporting: 
    • Generate monthly or ad hoc financial reports to support internal operations and tax preparation.
      Prepare and maintain documentation needed for year-end tax filings. 

Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise with QuickBooks (desktop and/or online) is required.
  • Familiarity with sales tax (i.e., experience working in a non-software accounting capacity) is required.
  • Prior experience with small business bookkeeping or accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Texas state tax filings (property taxes and state franchise taxes) is a plus.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with internal team members and clients.

Schedule & Work Environment:

  • This is a part-time role requiring approximately 15–20 hours per month.
  • Team member should also be prepared to occasionally assist with front desk/reception duties during in-office hours
    Flexible schedule with the ability to work from home combined with some time spent at our office as needed.
