Supply and Demand : A lesson in Rock and Roll Economics from Jack White

In an unprecedented display of economic prowess, a modern rock and roll icon is leveraging market supply and public demand to create value for his labels artists. Jack White, front man for the White Stripes, the Raconteurs, and owner of Third Man Records, noticed a disturbing trend with his limited release runs from Third Man. Local online resellers were buying up all of the vinyl his label produced in the stores, and reselling them online for a 3000% markup. So what did Mr White do? He cut out the middle man, and brought the value back to the artists making the music. Even if you are not a fan of the music, you still have to admire the moxy.
