AngelouEconomics is proud to support the Central Texas Asian Impact Project, an initiative led by the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce (GAACC) that highlights the growing economic contributions of Asian businesses, entrepreneurs, and investors across the Austin region.
As part of this effort, AngelouEconomics led the research and analysis for the 2026 Austin Asian Impact Report, Asia × Austin: A Trans-Pacific Convergence. This marks the second consecutive year that our team has contributed to the project, with Matt Patton and Hritik Das conducting the study on behalf of the Chamber.
The report underscores the increasing importance of the Asian community to the region’s growth and prosperity. Today, Asian residents represent nearly 12% of the Austin Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), growing three times faster than the regional average. Demographic projections suggest that figure could exceed 20% by 2060.
The findings reveal the strength and growing influence of Austin’s Asian business ecosystem. More than 35,000 Asian-owned businesses operate across the Greater Austin region, employing approximately 80,000 people and generating an estimated $22 billion in regional economic impact. Asian-owned firms account for 12% of all regional employer businesses and contribute an estimated $480 million annually in property taxes that support local schools, counties, and public services. The report also highlights Austin’s strategic position within the $2.7 trillion Texas Triangle, more than $50 billion in committed capital investment, and a $1.4 trillion pipeline of U.S. trade and investment agreements with Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan that will continue to drive growth across key industries.
These findings reinforce Austin’s emergence as a leading hub for international investment, innovation, and trans-Pacific business activity. As economic ties between Central Texas and Asia continue to strengthen, the region is well-positioned to attract new investment, create high-quality jobs, and foster long-term economic prosperity.
AngelouEconomics is honored to continue supporting the Central Texas Asian Impact Project and the Greater Austin Asian Chamber of Commerce in advancing research that highlights the opportunities, partnerships, and global connections shaping the future of the Austin region.
