Arlington, Texas, hired AE looking for a change. For years, it was a suburban region with few characteristics to differentiate it from the many other small cities in the shadow of the Dallas / Fort Worth. The Arlington Chamber of Commerce requested AE conduct economic, real estate, and labor trends analyses, benchmark the city against its competition and develop a strategy for bringing new business into the area.

After the completion of the strategy, Arlington succeeded in recruiting several new businesses and began implementing a plan for new real estate development. The city has been so successful in economic development that its leadership has received state and national recognition. The Bush administration appointed the president of The Arlington Chamber, Dr. David Sampson, as the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Commerce.
