In October 2005, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) hired AngelouEconomics to embark on an 8-month economic development strategic planning process for the five-county Northern Nevada region, referred to as Target2010 – Northern Nevada’s New Economy. Target2010 was a planning initiative that helped shape quality growth and ensure a broad-based economy in the future. AE provided the Northern Nevada region with a comprehensive assessment of the regional economy; identification of specific, high-yield, quality industries to aggressively target and recruit; a database of companies to use during marketing and recruitment efforts; an entrepreneurial strategy and technology assessment; new brand and logo for EDAWN; website evaluation and improvements strategy; and an action plan and implementation strategy containing recommendations related to workforce development and education, business climate, sites and infrastructure, quality of life, and marketing and economic development efforts.
