Recently, AngelouEconomics performed a benchmarking and marketing study for the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce. The study examined the efficacy of the current city and state promotional efforts relative to other competitive regions in the northeast. In our research, we found that Greater Providence and the state of Rhode Island lacked a strong external marketing program. Due to the extensive costs associated with creating a new marketing program, we recommended using the private funds of members to leverage additional funding from city and state governments as well as local foundations and professional groups.
