The Southeast Iowa Regional Planning Commission (SEIRPC) selected AngelouEconomics in 2006 to lead the region in an Economic Recovery Strategy to prepare Southeast Iowa to be more competitive in the new global economy. The SEIRPC, which is just over a year old, was formed with the specific intent of bringing all the communities and regional players together to strengthen Southeast Iowa by identifying opportunities, marketing the region as a whole, and sharing information and ideas. The Southeast Iowa region includes the counties of Des Moines, Henry, Lee, and Louisa.

The five-month strategic planning process launched in February 2006 will engage the region in an extensive evaluation of Southeast Iowa’s unique strengths and collaborative opportunities. The overarching goal of the project is to position Southeast Iowa as a premier location for target industry business, skilled workers, young professionals, and tourists by creating a unique identity and marketing message focused on the strategic assets of the region. The final report will include target industry recommendations, product improvements, and a marketing plan containing a new brand and logo for the region and recommendations for developing a top-notch economic development website.
