From October of 2005 to February of 2006, AE conducted an economic impact study for the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) to determine the University’s impact on the Oxford-Lafayette County community.  The study took into account the impact directly attributable to operations such as jobs, payroll and purchasing power, and the indirect impact of additional demand for goods and services by students, employees and visitors. AngelouEconomics determined that Ole Miss accounts for $734 million annually in economic activity in the local community, which is at least 50% of the local economy.  The study also found that the university is responsible for 7,000 jobs, $223 million in payroll and $1 million in property taxes.
